We organized this tour during a conference break and we all made it. The transfer from the hotel to the palace was express, as was the entry with the guide. He led us safely and with ease, we felt as if he was telling us the events he himself experienced! The Great Gallery is special, grandiose. Be sure to visit the gardens as well because they are beautiful and from every angle there is a different view of the palace and the estate. We also had time to have a coffee on the Gloriette before returning to the evening part of our event. All in all - it was worth booking this tour for us.
The first time we were here was before the pandemic, and we went on a much shorter tour with the kids. This time, we wanted a detailed tour. It's a big difference... The transportation and priority access made the whole experience seamless, while last time, we waited 45 minutes just to enter the palace. Only with a guide did we understand the entire layout of the palace, its historical context, the significance of the Habsburg dynasty, and its good and bad sides. In the end, a walk through the gardens was just right for us - we could comment on everything we learned and enjoy the views. This room, enjoyed mainly by Franz I Stephan, boasts exquisite black lacquer panels from China. After he died in 1765, Maria Theresa kept it as a memorial room for her late husband. During your tour, your guide will tell you more about Maria Theresa and Franz I Stephan. Other notable rooms your guide will take you to are the Great Gallery and the Millions Room. The Great Gallery was used for courtly events due to being 141 feet (43 meters) by 33 feet (10 meters). Even though the room has many lavish decorations, the frescoes on the ceiling steal the show. The Millions Room, extravagant in its details and sumptuous in materials, was used by Maria Theresa for private audiences with guests.

You will notice decorations like fountains and sculptures while traversing the Gardens’ pathways. In addition, you will see various structures standing around the Gardens, adding content and variety. One such structure is the Gloriette, visible on the opposite side of the Estate, standing on the crest of a hill. This structure was built in 1775 and has been used for multiple purposes throughout the years, from a viewing platform to a dinner hall.
